massacre of the innocents

Listening care-fully today to the Coventry Carol after a friend reminded me that the birth of jesus…. the prince of peace, immanuel (god with us), Love incarnate…. also came at a time when mothers were mourning the horrific death of their children at herod’s hand.

that was, of course, why the ‘wise men’ knew that another way was necessary.

makes me pray and ponder…. what is being born/awakening in us today?… deep compassion? repentance? Love that is not just a word or an idea, but an embodied REALity, Hope?, what will bring Peace at last, where is Love with us in this, here and now?

Have you listened to the lyrics of the Coventry Carol lately?
