Nov 2 –all souls

 on this holy of holies

with all souls crossing the threshold

she came to me

traversing that tenuous veil

between there and here

a wisp of a thing

one moment a dream

 the next a reality

my heart full of wonder

at not-at-all what i’d expected

on this day of re-membering–

connecting the generations–

I’d been looking behind

instead of before

and failed to notice the notion

that to this stunning arrival

the ancestor might be me

for my granddaughter, sophie lynn, born november 2, 2010.  3lbs 11oz
