autumn sunset

autumn sunset

the autumn sunset has returned

to my horizon

with startling intensity

as once

again the light’s encounter with the dark creates

an indigo so deep that i could dip my pen into its well

and forever write

drawing up the tip through colors rich

in depth allowed by light

relinquishing its hold

its need to dominate

and bowing to the moment

to what can only be revealed in letting go

into the dark

and then the beauty fluid flows

even as these colors drain onto my page,

becoming unexpected

as i witness

the unfolding blossom

and the closing kiss

before it hides again as i

within the blackness of this ink

that fills my page
