soul rocks

i erupted into life

as lava from a volcano

to harden quickly

in the cool atmosphere

where harsh winds

and driving rains

beat upon my life

breaking me

and washing me away

in the torrential rage

depositing my brokenness

layer upon layer

deep into the depths

of this ocean

where decaying bits

of ocean life

settled in my soul

to be transformed by pressure

into rock

and i wonder

what shape will i be next

will i emerge

from the heat of hell

which i survived

when forced beneath

the edges of  this life

to be metamorphosed

once again

transformed into

a piece of marble

to be scuplted
