she crosses o’er the bridge
by wading in the water underneath
funny i had never thought of that
but suddenly today i see
the rocks are slick
and chasms wide
in climbing to my perch above the water
why not just sit beside
this soothing sound
and catch the leaves that fall
onto my lap
somehow they know
when it is time
to let go of their heights
